Beykoz Deputy Mayor Özlem Vural Gürzel met with AKP President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

During the meeting, ongoing work in the district and new term projects were discussed.

Following Özlem Vural Gürzel's switch to the AKP, CHP Beykoz District Chair officials and Beykoz residents gathered in front of the municipal building during the first municipal council meeting to protest Gürzel. Slogans included "Özlem, resign" and "AKP will be held accountable to the people." Aydın Düzgün, CHP Beykoz District Chair, stated, "They turned the legitimate votes of Beykoz residents into unlawful votes. That's why we called on him to resign in the council. We expect him to resign immediately."
