The lira's decline against the dollar and euro continues. The dollar/TL exchange rate is trading at 42.2318, while the euro/TL exchange rate opened the day at 48.8586.

The dollar/TL exchange rate, which had been below 20 before the election, surpassed 23 a week later. Having settled between 23.4 and 23.6 until the Central Bank's meeting on June 22, the dollar/TL exchange rate rose again to above 25 after interest rates failed to rise sufficiently.

Similarly, the euro/Turkish Lira, which was below 21.5 before May 28th, surpassed 25 about a week after the election. The exchange rate, which had stabilized between 25.6 and 25.8 until the Central Bank's interest rate meeting in June, surpassed 27 after the interest rate decision. Exchange rates, though volatile, continue to rise.
