Those on stage

Semaver Kumpanya's "The Miser," which has been performing to sold-out audiences for seven seasons, reimagines Molière's centuries-old universal text with Tansu Biçer's contemporary and rhythmic direction. Serkan Keskin's masterful performance as Harpagon, the central character, symbolizes not only stinginess but also humankind's most fundamental weaknesses, fears, and loneliness. Keskin's Harpagon is a far more profound figure than the typical caricature: he is as tragic as he is comical, as pathetic as he is cruel. This interpretation, which subtly reveals how corrupted one's relationships with oneself and those around them can be in a world where social values are tested by money, frequently makes the audience laugh and yet also makes them think. Creating a living world with every element from stage design and costumes to music and fast-paced direction, "The Miser" stands out as one of the strongest examples of Semaver Kumpanya's search for original and profound narrative in theater. The play, starring Serkan Keskin, Sezin Bozacı, Ahmet Kaynak, Mertcan Ertürk, Metin Alpargun, Selen Şenay, Ekremcan Arslandağ, Saniye Samra, Onur Şenol, and Muhammed Türkoğlu, will meet the audience on August 9th at the Ankara Oran Open Air Stage.
Mr. Seyfi"On a cold night in 2007, Seyfi Dursunoğlu is preparing backstage at Günay Restaurant... He's about to take on the identity of Grumpy Virjin, as he has done every night for years. But a phone call will change not only that night, but the course of time itself." The story begins with Seyfi Dursunoğlu slowly transforming into Grumpy Virjin in the backstage mirror, bringing together two faces a man has carried throughout his life: One is Grumpy, who puts on a show in the public sphere, holding a mirror up to the cracks of the system with his sharp tongue; the other is Seyfi, who is left alone with the burden of the past, his longing, and his resentments.
Armağan Çağlayan appears within this narrative not merely as an actor; he is a witness, a companion, a friend accompanying a farewell. Having witnessed Huysuz's elegant and sharp intelligence behind the scenes for years, he becomes his second voice, and at times, even his conscience. Armağan's presence doesn't merely voice memories; it also signals that Huysuz is no longer just a character, but the representation of an era and a rebellion. 'Seyfi Bey' is not merely a portrait; it is the stage embodiment of a queer memory, an overlooked art form, and a generation shaped by both laughter and tears. Written by Gencay Ünsalan, directed by Celal Kadri Kınaoğlu, and starring Armağan Çağlayan, who began his career as the scriptwriter for Huysuz Virjin, and Sedat Bilenler, 'Seyfi Bey' opens at the İzmir Çeşme Open Air Theater on August 10th.
