Minister Ersoy had said 'It will be protected', but it was abandoned to its fate and became a dump!

The findings of the 2400-year-old sarcophagus graves found during the excavation of a foundation for a construction site in the city center of Bodrum, Muğla 4 years ago were shocking. During the excavation of the artifacts, which Minister Ersoy personally attended, he said, “What makes us happy is that it has not been damaged at all. It has not been damaged anywhere and has remained as it was buried. The materials inside have not been affected by any tremors, we will protect the area.” The area was abandoned to its fate, turned into a garbage dump, and the guides who wanted to show the 2400-year-old graves to tourists rebelled.
MINISTER SAID "WE WILL PROTECT"Minister Ersoy, who said that a female skeleton from the 4th century BC was found in the excavation, said, "We opened the lid of the sarcophagus together with you. There is a female skeleton. This is a place that is 2,400 years old. It is thought to be a metropolitan part of Halicarnassus. As you can see, it has remained intact in a cemetery area in that region, has not been damaged anywhere, and has remained the same. The things inside have not been affected by the earthquakes and natural disasters. We will close it temporarily for now. We will make a tent over it and protect it from the sun. Then the things inside will be slowly removed. A lot will come out. A piece of it came out. It is thought to be under the mud. They will find them." Minister Ersoy, who stated that they gained a good value for Bodrum, said that the excavation work is carried out by the Bodrum Underwater Archaeology Museum Directorate.
The skeleton, gold ring, necklace and valuable objects found in the ancient grave were taken into protection in the Bodrum Underwater Archaeology Museum.
Even though 4 years have passed, the area where the ancient graves are located has not been taken under protection. It was closed off with makeshift panels, and the area has turned into a garbage dump due to neglect.
It was seen that waste water pipes were passed through the ancient tombs. Weeds have grown inside and around the ancient tombs. The guides who brought tourists by bus after hearing Minister Ersoy’s statement said, “We came a few times, we said it would be fixed, but the archaeological site has turned into a garbage dump and the surroundings are full of stench. We are ashamed to see this scene, we have stopped bringing tourists and showing them. If they find a historical stone on the Greek islands, which are not much more than half an hour away, they clean it and protect it, and we do not appreciate the values we have like this.”
Bodrum Underwater Archaeology Museum officials, contacted by SÖZCÜ, stated that they would not make a statement on the issue.
