🔹 AA Live for instant developmentsParticipants experience shooting arrows at putas (targets used in traditional archery) and riding horses for the first time on the plateaus under the supervision of instructors, and they both have fun and learn about the culture of their ancestors.
Muhammet Akçay, the archery field manager in Malazgirt, told an AA correspondent that they provided archery experience to the public at five putas in the area with a team of eight people.
Akçay, explaining that visitors to the site experience archery for the first time, said, "They experience the feeling of Ahlat and Malazgirt in 1071 and leave with that spirit. The difference between their arrival and departure is evident in their eyes. In this place where our ancestors won a great victory under the leadership of Sultan Alp Arslan in 1071, where the gates to Anatolia were opened, our youth and participants feel that spirit deeply. We provide archery experience to 2,000 people a day. Approximately 4,000 people shot arrows in two days. We strive to keep the culture of archery alive here."
Fatma Güven, who came from Adıyaman to attend the events, said, "We watched horse races and archery here. We had our students ride horses. We experienced archery. When you think of Turks, the first thing that comes to mind is archery and horseback riding culture. It's very important to instill these in the new generation."
"Approximately 4,000 people shot arrows in two days"Helinsu Güvenir, who rode a horse at the event, said, "It's especially great for those who can't get out of town. Officials allow anyone who wants to ride the horses they bring to the area to shoot arrows. These are part of our culture. It's good for us to hold these events. We get to know our culture and history through these events. I love horseback riding. That's why I come here early and ride without waiting in line. It's wonderful."
Harun Kayaer, the archery field manager in Ahlat, said, "There's a lot of interest. We give archery experience to 2,000 people a day. Approximately 4,000 people shot arrows in two days. We're trying to keep the archery culture alive here. People don't get to experience it very often. The Archers Foundation is doing very meaningful work in this regard."
Musa Güven Aydoğdu, who came from Adana with his family, said, "I shot an arrow for the first time. It was very exciting. Archery needs to be kept alive. It's important for this nation, with its rich culture, to preserve it."
