After Maltepe, the Islands... Mucilage is spreading in the Marmara Sea!

Mucilage off the coast of Kınalıada, known as the closest island to Istanbul, caused turbidity in the Marmara Sea in places.

It was noted that mucilage was more dense in areas close to the coast and covered less area offshore.

Mucilage was observed in Kınalıada's harbour and in the fishing shelters where boats were moored on January 26.

Locals had demanded that authorities take urgent action against the mucilage that was rapidly proliferating on their island and threatening tourism.
