The controversial sermon from the Directorate of Religious Affairs: 'Clothes and nudists'

The Presidency of Religious Affairs addressed the issue of "modesty" in its Friday sermon this week. The sermon stated, "Exposing one's body, privacy, and private matters to the public is a corruption of the mind, conscience, and nature. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, 'Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, is Halim, the Possessor of Modesty, the One Who covers faults and flaws. He loves modesty and covering up.'" The sermon noted that the clothing industry, fashion designers, and certain media circles are encouraging nudity and trivializing the covering under the guise of "freedom" and "modernity." It also emphasized that wearing short and transparent clothing, regardless of the location or purpose, violates Allah's command to cover up and is haram (forbidden). It was also stated, "Those who wear tight clothes that reveal their limbs are, in the words of the Messenger of Allah (pbuh), 'clothed and naked.'"
"IT IS AN ATTACK ON THE INSTITUTION OF FAMILY"
The sermon also included the statement, "The nudity that is being normalized through some movies, TV series, digital media broadcasts and advertisements is not courage and freedom, but an attack on the institution of the family."
The sermon, which stated that being inappropriately dressed in social spaces, and especially in institutional settings, was a challenge to minimum moral standards, said, "This is not modernity, but primitiveness. Anyone who remains silent when moral and decency standards are violated is under a great sin. Because protecting the chastity, decency, and morality of our generation is our common responsibility."
