Steel Dome will detect and eliminate threats from the farthest range

According to the statement made by SAHA Istanbul, SSB President Görgün evaluated the Steel Dome project at the "Field Conversations" event.
Görgün stated that Türkiye's multi-layered air defense system has been officially named "Steel Dome," adding that Steel Dome is not only an air defense system but also an integrated defense doctrine.
Görgün pointed out that this system is a concept that symbolizes "coordinated" rather than "simultaneous" work, and "together" rather than "together," adding, "The system is designed to detect and eliminate threats from the farthest range with AI- supported decision support mechanisms."
Görgün stated that the system integrates elements operating at different range layers such as SİPER, HİSAR A+ and O+, KORKUT, and SUNGUR under a single command and control architecture, and that radars, electro-optical sensors, jammers, and laser systems will also be part of this holistic structure.
"The most appropriate intervention scenario is being created"Görgün stated that the core of the Steel Dome command and control architecture is an artificial intelligence-supported system where all elements communicate via a common aerial image. He explained, "Thanks to this structure, when a threat is detected, the most appropriate response scenario is created and communicated to the relevant unit in a timely manner. The decision support structure plays a critical role in terms of speed and accuracy. This system utilizes not only human judgment but also artificial intelligence-based algorithms."
Görgün pointed out that all components in the system are produced domestically and nationally, saying, "If we had purchased all these systems from different countries, interoperability would have been a major engineering challenge, but we are bringing together systems that come from the same engineering culture."
Görgün stated that SSB's approach focuses on both product development and creating a strategy, integration, and sustainable ecosystem. He added that hundreds of subcontractors play a role in these systems, and that mechanisms such as the 21 percent SME obligation and the 2 percent localization share support the sustainability of this vision.
Görgün also stated that they are working on a concept where sensor fusion is at the center for the 6th generation warfare environment, where manned and unmanned systems work together, and pointed out that projects such as KIZILELMA, ANKA-3, HÜRJET , and KAAN will be parts of this structure.
Görgün pointed out that more than half of defense industry exports are made to NATO and EU countries, and announced that a special directorate for NATO relations has been established within the SSB.
Görgün emphasized that they produce not only a system but also a strategy, noting that the Steel Dome is a symbolic structure that reflects Türkiye's current state of defense technologies and its forward-looking vision.
