Russia announces decline in oil and gas production

Tsivilev assessed the situation in his country's energy sector in the Federation Council, the upper house of the Russian parliament.
Tsivilev, noting that Russia's coal production increased by 0.1 percent to 187 million tons in the first five months of the year, said, "We are experiencing difficulties with payments. We are now resolving this issue individually with each country we cooperate with. We have made significant progress in making payments in national currencies."
Tsivilev stated that during the period in question, oil production in Russia decreased by 3.5 percent to 211 million tons, and natural gas production decreased by 3 percent to 290 billion cubic meters.
Tsivilev, noting that they have prepared a development plan for the next 10 years with Gazprom, said, "We signed an agreement on this matter today and we are proceeding according to the agreement and on schedule."
In September 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the Russian government and Gazprom to prepare a 10-year development plan, including the reorganization of natural gas supply routes.
