Promotion crisis at CHP's Buca Municipality! Employee victimization scandals continue unabated

A promotion crisis has erupted in Buca, where mountains of garbage were created when approximately 1,900 workers at the municipality's Buca Mar Company went on strike recently because they could not receive their salaries in full and on time.
The agreement was canceled after workers protested.
Buca Municipality recently announced a three-year, 42,000 lira promotional agreement with a bank in exchange for workers' wage deposits. The municipality's announcement of the 42,000 lira promotional fee sparked a strong backlash among workers. Following their objections, the municipality announced the cancellation of the three-year promotional agreement.
50,000 lira payment for 4 years
While workers, suffering from unpaid wages, were waiting for the banks to provide them with a promotional offer, the municipality received disappointing news. The municipality, which had canceled the initial agreement following a backlash, announced that it had now reached an agreement for a four-year, 50,000 lira promotional offer.
Workers in revolt
While municipal workers in other districts of Izmir receive higher promotion fees despite earning nearly the same salary, the fact that the Buca worker will be paid 50,000 lira over four years has caused unrest within the municipality. Some employees, who wished to remain anonymous, alleged that the municipality had reached an agreement with the bank where the workers' salaries were deposited for a higher amount and accused the municipality of withholding a significant portion of the promotion fees.
Promises made to workers were not kept
Meanwhile, it has been revealed that Buca Mayor Görkem Duman hasn't kept his promises to pay all the missing salaries. The workers, who requested anonymity, said , "Our fellow workers protested and walked out of work because they couldn't receive their full salaries in recent weeks. Since household waste wasn't collected during the protest, mountains of garbage formed in many parts of Buca. Then CHP Party spokesperson Deniz Yücel stepped in. Mayor Duman stated that the workers' receivables would be paid as soon as possible and announced a payment schedule. The workers accepted this payment schedule, ended the protests, and returned to work. Just when we thought everything was going well, the municipality didn't comply with its own payment schedule. Recently, the remaining portion of April's salary and half of May's salary were deposited into our accounts. The remaining half of May's salary and June's salaries still haven't been deposited."
9 Bonuses to Permanent Workers Not Paid
Workers stated that their meal card payments were not made in addition to their salaries; "There are two months' meal card payments inside. It is not clear when they will be deposited."
Stating that permanent workers are also suffering, the employees said: "There are 9 bonus payments due to 39 permanent workers working under the municipality. This equates to approximately 200,000 lira per person. It is not clear when the payment will be made."
According to the news in Sabah, employees claim that the product range of the market that the municipality has agreed with for shopping with meal cards is limited:
"Our meal cards are already not being loaded regularly. As if that weren't enough, many of the products we need are not on the shelves because the product range at the partner supermarket chain is limited. We already don't receive our salaries regularly. Add to that the limited product range in the store, and the hardship becomes even greater," he said.
