Prof. Dr. Fatmagül Berktay completed her education at Ankara University, Faculty of Political Sciences and York University (England). A founding member of the History Foundation and a member of the General Assembly of the Women's Works Library, Berktay served as the Head of the Department of Political Science at the IU SBF, teaching "Political Theory", "History of Political Thought", "Contemporary Political Theories", "Democracy Theory"; and "Feminist Theories" in the Department of Women's Studies. Berktay, who has also given lectures and conferences at universities in the USA, Europe and Australia, has numerous articles and book chapters published in the fields of Political Science and Women's Studies both domestically and abroad. The author's work Women in the Face of Monotheistic Religions (Metis, 1996) was published in Canada under the title Women and Religion (BlackRose Books, 1998), and her book The Gender of History (Metis, 2003) was published in Lebanon under the title El Huviyye en Nisaiye 'abr et Tarih (Dar Kreideh, 2009). The author, who published The Call of Politics (Istanbul Bilgi University Publications, 2010) and Loving the World Today - Hannah Arendt's Understanding of Politics (Metis Publications, 2012), and whose book The Ethics of Thinking (Metis, 2021) is currently working on political ethics, political evil, and feminist history.
