Explosion after gas leak in Izmir: 4 injured; those moments on camera

The incident occurred at around 00:15 in the 3rd floor of a 7-storey apartment building on Kazımdirik Neighbourhood, 162nd Street, number 24-A. Hearing the explosion, which was thought to be due to a gas leak, the surrounding citizens reported the situation to the fire department, health and police teams. In the meantime, a fire broke out in the apartment and the building was evacuated.

Firefighters who arrived at the scene intervened and extinguished the flames and rescued citizens trapped in the building. Four people were injured in the explosion and subsequent fire. It was reported that one of the injured was in the apartment where the explosion occurred, one lived in the same building, and the other two were citizens passing by on the street at the time.

The injured were taken to Ege University Medical Faculty Hospital by ambulance after the first aid given by the medical teams at the scene. After the explosion , the apartment on the 3rd floor was completely unusable.

The investigation regarding the incident is continuing.
