Do you feel safe? The world safety list has been published! Izmir and 6 other cities from Türkiye are on that list.

An international research firm has published its global list of the " World's Safest Cities." While six Turkish cities earned a place on this prestigious list, Izmir stands out with its impressive 98th place. So, how is Izmir's security situation assessed? Here's the list...
HOW WAS THE PULSE OF SECURITY TAKEN?The study meticulously examined details such as crime rates, effective police response, city security measures, and the general public's perception of trust. This included measuring both the physical security of cities and the level of citizen confidence.
TOP CITIESAbu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, topped the list, cited as a model for public safety. It was followed by Taipei, Taiwan, and Doha, Qatar. These cities topped the list for their low crime rates and strong security systems.
Türkiye'S SHINING STARSThe rankings of the Turkish cities included on the list are as follows: Eskişehir 38th, Bursa 70th, Antalya 72nd, İzmir 98th, Ankara 154th, and Istanbul 221st. While Eskişehir stands out with its planned urbanization and high quality of life, İzmir is reportedly in need of new strategies to increase its security potential.
Izmir's current safety rankings indicate that the city still needs improvement in both public and individual safety. However, with its social structure, dynamic population, and sustainable policies of local governments, Izmir could rank much higher in the coming years.
One of the most important points emphasized by the research is that security cannot be achieved solely through the presence of law enforcement. It concluded that urban planning, social policies, and social solidarity directly impact the perception of security. Therefore, cities become safer through multidimensional approaches.
