The Syrian government has no intention of negotiating Damascus's accession to the Abraham Accords, which envisage normalizing relations with neighboring Israel. This was stated by Syrian interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa in an interview with the American television channel Fox News.
He noted that the situation in Syria differs from the situation in the states that have joined the Abraham Accords.
"Syria borders Israel, which has occupied the Golan Heights since 1967. We do not intend to enter into direct negotiations at this time," the country's interim leader stated.
However, al-Sharaa admitted that in the future, with the mediation of US President Donald Trump, such contacts with Israel could still take place.
Syria previously joined the US anti-terrorism coalition .
