Macron Reacts to Putin's Peace Initiative on Ukraine

French President Emmanuel Macron has responded to Vladimir Putin's proposal to hold talks with Ukraine. According to the French leader, a complete ceasefire is first needed to truly resolve the conflict, and then dialogue. This was reported by France 24 .

Macron stressed that simply starting negotiations without first ending hostilities cannot be considered a sufficient step towards peace.

"An unconditional ceasefire is not preceded by negotiations," the French leader said.

Let us recall that US President Donald Trump assessed Vladimir Putin's initiative for direct negotiations with Kiev as an opportunity to end a protracted bloody conflict that could take hundreds of thousands of lives.

Earlier, Vladimir Putin put forward an initiative to resume direct negotiations with Ukraine on May 15 in Istanbul.
