Professor of political economy and member of the British House of Lords Robert Skidelsky reported on his YouTube channel that the demonization of Russia by Western countries has been going on for several centuries and has deep roots.

He clarified that some Russophobic theses have not changed since the 19th century.

"Russophobia is an irrational fear of Russia because it seems as big as an octopus. In particular, Tsarist Russia, barbaric, the scourge of young and free Europe - such statements were made in the 19th century. After that, the North Atlantic countries spread these beliefs about the USSR," Skidelsky noted.

According to him, over the past ten years, except for attempts by the administration of President Donald Trump, Western countries have not conducted any negotiations with the Russian Federation, but have only introduced more sanctions and prepared for war.
