The nugget, mined by Rostec's Kaliningrad Amber Plant, weighs 1,122 kilograms
At an amber auction in Moscow, the largest of the nuggets put up for auction, mined by the Kaliningrad Amber Plant of Rostec, was sold for 1.18 million rubles, a TASS correspondent reports. The starting price of the stone was 650 thousand rubles. The nugget weighs 2.122 kilograms. Another stone, "The Beatles", with the most expensive starting price, was sold for the same price - 750 thousand rubles. The weight of the stone is 1.666 kilograms.
A total of 50 lots were put up for auction, some were sold at the starting price, but the price of most stones increased several times during the auction. For example, the price of amber with a small insect - an ant - and fragments of fauna increased from 38 thousand to 122 thousand rubles, and an inclusion (this is what a stone with fossil remains is called) with a centipede was sold for 88 thousand rubles with a starting price of 13 thousand rubles.
The auction of rare amber will take place on August 2 in Moscow at VDNKh as part of the VIII International Amber Forum AmberForum 2025.
