From May 30, 2025, updated rules for money transfers will come into effect in Russia, aimed at strengthening control over financial transactions. The main change will affect transfers without opening a bank account - now the maximum amount of such transactions with simplified identification will be 100 thousand rubles. Financier Maria Ermilova told the agency " Prime " about this.
Currently, transfers of up to 15 thousand rubles are allowed without identification, and with a simplified procedure (with the provision of passport data) there are no restrictions on the amount. The new rules are designed to eliminate this gap and bring Russian legislation into line with international standards for combating money laundering and terrorist financing.
Transferring amounts over 100 thousand rubles will require full identification, including providing the bank with additional information: registration and residence addresses, information about beneficiaries and the purpose of the transfer. These measures are aimed at preventing the illegal transfer of capital abroad and combating financial crimes.
The changes will also affect electronic payment instruments, for which similar restrictions will apply. The innovations are part of a set of measures to strengthen the country's financial security and increase the transparency of monetary transactions.
