North West Makes Her Solo Instagram Debut, Showing Off Balenciaga Looks and Blue Hair

THE RUNDOWN
- North West made her Instagram debut on December 20.
- Her first two posts show playful, stylish looks, including one where she poses with a peace sign and another with bright blue hair.
- According to her profile bio, the account is “managed by parents.”
North West is officially on Instagram. On Saturday, the 12-year-old, who’s the eldest child of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, launched her own account with a soft-focus photo snapped in a dimly lit space with glowing lights. In the picture, North gives a peace sign with both hands, a subtle nod to her mom’s signature pose. She styled her look with a graphic Balenciaga tee, a mini skirt, boots, and slicked-back hair. “First post,” she captioned the image.
Her profile bio notes that the account is “managed by parents.” Within hours, North attracted hundreds of thousands of followers, including Kardashian and Kris Jenner. For now, she’s keeping her “Following” list empty.
A second post arrived the following day. This time, North obscured her face behind her hands and beneath an oversized fuzzy hat, flashes of bright blue hair peeking through. She kept the caption brief, simply adding the emoji, “🔜.”
Although this marks her first personal Instagram page, North already has a digital presence. She regularly appears on the joint TikTok account she shares with Kardashian, where she posts lighthearted dance videos alongside family and friends.
The Instagram debut follows previous public comments from West denouncing his children’s presence on social media. Kardashian and West—who also share children Saint, 10, Chicago, 7, and Psalm, 6—ended their marriage in 2022.
North’s growing visibility online has gone hand in hand with her experimental approach to fashion and beauty, from bold hairstyles and bleached eyebrows to faux piercings. Earlier this month, she addressed backlash over a finger piercing by lip-syncing to a viral audio clip, adding the on-screen message: “This is for everyone that’s mad over a finger piercing.”
Kardashian has publicly backed her daughter’s creative instincts. “I’m like, ‘Babe, if you want blue hair, it is what it is,’” she said on the Call Her Daddy podcast in October. “It makes her so happy. I would never take that creative [outlet] away from her.”
