Former Interior Ministry Colonel Vladimir Novgorodov, accused of involvement in the criminal activities of a group of former special forces soldiers, partially admitted his guilt, TASS reports. According to the criminal case materials, he agreed with the charges of illegal trafficking of weapons and explosives, but denies participation in attempted murders.
Novgorodov is involved in the case along with other former special forces officers, including former Rys' SOBR fighter Alexey Alpatov and former Grom special forces soldier Sergey Volostnykh. The group is suspected of a series of contract killings of entrepreneurs in the 2000s, as well as an attempt on the life of Alexander Revzin, an adviser to the chairman of the Moscow Audit Chamber.
According to investigators, Novgorodov provided his country house for storing the gang's arsenal. Currently, all the accused are in custody, the investigation is ongoing. The case has caused a stir in law enforcement circles due to the high status of the defendants and the particular cruelty of the crimes committed.
Earlier it was reported that the court refused to recognize Andrei Razin's authorship of the song "Pink Evening".
