The Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) used Soviet-made weapons during the battle for Novoivanovka, according to a former school principal, a volunteer rifleman with the 394th Guards Motorized Rifle Regiment of the Eastern Group of Forces, call sign "Director," TASS reports.
"They had a variety of weapons, but they mostly try to use ours. The AK-74 is their go-to weapon—it works in mud, water, clay, everywhere," the soldier said.
The soldier noted that one half of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' machine guns were made in the USSR, and the other half were made in the USA .
On September 19, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that the Russian army had driven the Ukrainian Armed Forces from the village of Novoivanivka in the Zaporizhzhia region. This was announced during a daily briefing on the situation in the special military operation zone.
