NOVOSIBIRSK, September 23 - RIA Novosti. FSB officers have detained three suspected organizers of an illegal migration channel that legalized foreigners for work at construction sites in the Kamchatka Krai, the FSB Directorate for the Novosibirsk Region reported on Tuesday. The agency explained that the suspects attempted to evade criminal prosecution by fleeing to their home country, a Central Asian republic. They were detained by officers from the FSB Directorate for the Novosibirsk Region in cooperation with the FSB Directorate for the Kamchatka Krai and the FSB Directorate for the Sakhalin Region in Novosibirsk and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. "It was established that the three suspects, also illegally present in Russia, issued fictitious documents to visiting citizens regarding payment of patents, allowing them to stay in our country beyond the established period. The foreigners used the forged documents to work at construction sites in the Kamchatka Krai," the statement reads. A criminal case has been opened against three members of the criminal group under Article 322.1, Part 2, Item "a" of the Russian Criminal Code (organizing illegal migration committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy). "The migrants they illegally legalized have also been detained and placed in a temporary detention center for foreign citizens. Criminal cases have been opened against them under Article 327, Part 5, of the Russian Criminal Code (using a knowingly forged document)," the FSB added.
