The Russian government has approved the write-off of part of the debt of another 12 regions that have completed infrastructure projects. The total amount of write-offs exceeded 29 billion rubles, the Cabinet of Ministers reported .

The list includes the Komi Republic, Mordovia, Chuvashia, Krasnodar Krai, as well as Arkhangelsk, Volgograd, Ivanovo, Nizhny Novgorod, Omsk, Tambov, Tula and Ulyanovsk regions. The regions were given the opportunity to write off up to two-thirds of their debt on budget loans.

The basis for the write-off was investments in the modernization of housing and communal services, resettlement from dilapidated housing, development of public transport, key settlements, launch of investment projects, as well as recapitalization of industrial development funds.

“The amount of write-off corresponds to the size of these regions’ investments in the projects,” the government explained.

In August, the government reported writing off debts of 28 entities for 58.3 billion rubles. The Ministry of Finance specified that the total volume of write-offs by the end of 2025 could exceed 160 billion rubles.
