Undefeated at Couto Pereira this season, coach Mozart celebrated Coritiba's victory over Cuiabá in the 13th round of Série B. In a press conference after the game, he praised the players' daily environment.
“I confess that it was difficult, it was tough, it was arduous, a daily job. Once again I need to praise the players’ dedication”, highlights the coach.
Mozart also highlighted the healthy competitiveness in the club's day-to-day activities. “We have an environment of great internal competition, but also of great loyalty and transparency, and it is important that we continue to do so, competing internally and transferring this competition to the game,” he emphasizes.
Mozart also explained the decision to include defender Bruno Melo in the starting lineup instead of starting with João Almeida, a full-back from the youth team and one of the club's revelations this season.
According to the coach, the main reason was again the opponent's physical profile. “Cuiabá has six players between 1.85m and 1.90m, and is one of the teams that scores the most goals from set pieces. Bruno's entry was to give the team more height. That's why we also put Jacy, who is 1.92m, in defense,” he explained.
Despite the decision to leave the full-back on the bench for 90 minutes, the coach made sure to praise the youngster. “João came on against Atlético-GO in a 'fire' and did very well. But, this time, we opted for Bruno and Zeca precisely because of the set pieces”, he concluded.
