Vehicle production in Brazil grows 6.7%

Vehicle production in Brazil increased 6.7% between January and April compared to the same period in 2024, driven by exports to Argentina , the National Association of Automotive Vehicle Manufacturers (Anfavea) reported on Thursday.
In total, Brazil produced 811,150 units, including cars, light commercial vehicles, trucks and buses, in the first four months of this year.
In April alone, Brazilian production reached 228,240 vehicles, almost 3% more than in the same month in 2024 and 20% higher than the number recorded in March .
“This is the best four-month period in six years,” highlighted Igor Calvet, the president of Anfavea, at a press conference.
The strong pace of sales in the Brazilian market and, mainly, the increase in exports were the main factors for this growth.
According to the automakers' union, Brazil exported 161,900 vehicles between January and April , a total that represents a growth of 47.8% compared to the previous year. Argentina contributed the most to this result.
Calvet explained that some of the economic measures developed in Argentina by the Government of Javier Milei and the devaluation of the Brazilian currency against the Argentine currency helped to stimulate imports from the neighboring country.
In the Brazilian domestic market, sales of new vehicles grew 6.7%, comparing April and March , but fell 5.5% compared to April last year, according to Anfavea.
Total sales of new vehicles in Brazil in the first four months of 2025 were 760.4 thousand units, up 3.4% compared to the same period in 2024.
