Featured event: The re-elected mayor of Lisbon takes office.
The new Lisbon City Council executive takes office this Tuesday. The inauguration of the new Lisbon City Council executive, presided over by the re-elected Carlos Moedas (PSD), is scheduled for 5 pm at the Alcântara Maritime Station. In the elections of October 12th, the right-wing coalition that brought together PSD, CDS and Liberal Initiative increased its vote, but not enough to achieve an absolute majority (it was only one councilor short of it). Carlos Moedas thus defeated the left-wing coalition, led by the socialist Alexandra Leitão, which included the Left Bloc, Livre and PAN. The CDU was not part of this left-wing union. In his victory speech, Moedas promised a policy in favor of Lisbon residents "above any interest".
