There is no chance of impunity or appeasement, says Moraes after Magnisky's use against his wife

Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes called the application of the Magnitsky Act against his wife, Viviane Barci de Moraes, by decision of the Donald Trump administration “illegal and regrettable.”
In a statement, the minister stated that the sanction contrasts with the history of the United States and violates international law, Brazilian sovereignty, and the independence of the Judiciary.
"Brazilian institutions are strong and solid," Moraes wrote. "The way forward is respect for the Constitution, and there is no constitutional possibility of impunity, omission, or cowardly appeasement."
According to the judge, Brazilian judges will not tolerate attempts to coerce or obstruct the performance of their duties. "As a member of the Supreme Federal Court, I will continue to fulfill my constitutional mission to judge with independence and impartiality."
The Trump administration's latest announcement comes 11 days after former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) was convicted of attempted coup d'état. On Monday the 15th, Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that he was considering new sanctions against Brazil .
