In these cases, the sentences range from 3 to 17 years in prison, in addition to a fine and compensation for collective moral damages of 30 million reais, to be paid by all those convicted of the same crimes. This was the value of the material damages caused, in addition to the inestimable damage to cultural and historical assets.
Another 373 were convicted of less serious crimes , such as criminal association and incitement. They were camped in front of the Army Headquarters in Brasília and called for military intervention.
In this group, almost all were sentenced to 1 year in prison, replaced by alternative measures, such as community service and participation in a democracy course, in addition to payment of a fine and compensation for moral damages in the amount of 5 million reais, to be divided among all. After fully fulfilling their obligations, they are no longer considered first-time offenders.
