Left-wing front advances in Lisbon: PS, Livre, BE and PAN form coalition

An agreement is imminent between the PS, Livre, Bloco de Esquerda and PAN for a coalition in Lisbon to face the re-election of Carlos Moedas, who, in addition to the CDS, is part of the Liberal Initiative.
Sources consulted by Jornal Económico (JE) during the week said that negotiations for a left-wing front were nearing completion and that the details of the agreement, which will be signed this Friday, after all parties have completed internal formalities, would soon be known. The PAN, for example, is holding a National Political Committee meeting this Thursday to decide on the various alliances it may form in the October 12 elections.
This Thursday, Expresso and Público revealed that during the negotiations, Livre secured a higher representation on the lists than the Left Bloc, reinforcing the argument based on the election results of the last legislative elections. The party of Rui Tavares, a member of parliament and also a councilor, will have a chance to win elections in three parishes. However, the agreement between the four parties includes candidate lists for all bodies—the presidency, the Municipal Assembly, and the 24 parishes.
The CDU (PCP/Greens), whose candidacy, led by João Ferreira, was announced ten months ago, was early excluded from this pre-election agreement. The Citizens for Lisbon movement is also excluded.
