Derrite's opinion on the Anti-Faction Bill opens the door to 'unacceptable interference,' says the Federal Revenue Service.

After the Federal Police indicated that it is following with concern the changes promoted by federal deputy Guilherme Derrite (PP-SP) in the proposal known as the Anti-Faction Bill, the Federal Revenue Service stated this Monday, the 10th, that the changes in the project open the door to... "unacceptable interference and weakening of federal authority" .
The main concern, for both the Federal Police and the Federal Revenue Service, is the section stating that federal authorities could only investigate criminal organizations, militias, and paramilitary groups classified as terrorist if requested by a governor.
"Recent operations against criminal organizations, especially those targeting the upper echelons of crime, with clear national repercussions demanding uniform repression across the country, cannot be contingent upon local authorization," the tax authority said.
The agency also stated that the Brazilian population expects all state bodies to act in cooperation and integration, without subordination or undue interference. "At the risk of jeopardizing recent gains in the fight against criminal organizations" , he concluded.
In the substitute bill presented last Friday, Derrite modified the proposal originally submitted by the Lula (PT) government. The decision provoked outrage among government supporters , who are pressing for the changes to be overturned.
Amidst an avalanche of criticism, the Speaker of the House, Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB), met with the Director-General of the Federal Police, Andrei Rodrigues, early Monday evening. Following the meeting, the Paraíba native announced on social media that Derrite's new opinion will ensure that the corporation maintains "its responsibilities in investigations against organized crime."
In an interview with CartaCapital , the National Secretary for Legislative Affairs of the Ministry of Justice, Marivaldo Pereira, stated that this is a very serious measure . "The result would be a gigantic uproar. This is a gigantic gift for any leader of a criminal faction."
