Cid reaffirms that Bolsonaro read the coup draft during the meeting

Lieutenant Colonel Mauro Cid confirmed, this Monday 14, that former president Jair Bolsonaro had contact with and read the coup document that predicted the decree of new elections and the arrest of ministers of the Supreme Federal Court , in 2022. During the investigations, the document became known as the coup minutes.
Cid testified again before Minister Alexandre de Moraes, the reporting judge for the criminal cases dealing with parts 2, 3, and 4 of the coup plot . He was named by the Attorney General's Office, which is responsible for the prosecution.
The military officer, who was an aide-de-camp in the Bolsonaro government and is a whistleblower in the investigations, confirmed that Filipe Martins, Bolsonaro's former International Affairs advisor and defendant in the case, brought a legal expert to two meetings with the former president to present the coup document.
According to Cid, during the meeting, Bolsonaro read the document and requested changes. According to the whistleblower, the document provided for the arrest of Supreme Court ministers, including Alexandre de Moraes, and the then-president of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG), but was changed to only provide for the arrest of Moraes.
"The document was composed of two parts. The first part was the considerations. They addressed possible interference by the Supreme Federal Court (STF) and the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) in the electoral process. The second part involved the arrest of officials and the declaration of elections," he said.
Mauro Cid is testifying via videoconference. The minister's order prohibits photos, audio and video recordings, and live streaming. However, the defendants' lawyers and the press are allowed to attend the testimony.
New phase The coup plot trial enters a new phase this week. This Tuesday, the 15th, witnesses named by the defendants, who are part of the three groups, will begin testifying. Testimony is expected to continue until July 23rd.
Last month, the Supreme Federal Court heard testimony from witnesses from Nucleus 1, made up of former President Jair Bolsonaro and seven allies.
