Police arrest 3rd suspect in death of teacher in SP

The Military Police arrested on the morning of this Sunday, the 11th, the third suspect for the death of Mathematics teacher Fernanda Reinecke Bonin, 42 years old. She was found dead on April 28th in the surroundings of the Interlagos Race Track, in the south of São Paulo.
Rosemberg Joaquim de Santana, 54, was located in the southern part of the capital after a tip-off that he was in the Pedreira neighborhood. He is being investigated for direct involvement in the crime.
Until the publication of this text, the report had not located Santana's defense.
“The man was taken to the headquarters of the Homicide and Personal Protection Department (DHPP), remaining at the disposal of the Judiciary,” the State Public Security Secretariat (SSP) said in a statement. The department added that the case is still under investigation.
On Friday, the 9th, the Civil Police arrested veterinarian Fernanda Loureiro Fazio, the teacher's ex-wife. According to investigations, she is the main suspect of having ordered the murder of her partner.
Investigations are still looking into the motive for the crime. One of the strongest hypotheses is that the act was committed out of jealousy and the veterinarian's refusal to accept the end of the relationship.
Fernanda Fazio, who had her arrest ordered by the court, was found by the police in her lawyer's office. In her statements, the veterinarian denied involvement in her ex's death. Her defense was not located.
Earlier, another suspect, João Paulo Bourquin, was temporarily arrested. He was reportedly identified as one of the men caught on surveillance cameras abandoning the victim's car on a street near the Interlagos Race Track.
The man claims that he was only hired by the killers to make the teacher's vehicle disappear, and denies any involvement in Fernanda Bonin's execution, according to the police. The fact that there were shoelaces in the suspect's house also drew attention. The report did not locate Bourquin's defense.
According to the Civil Police, five people are suspected of involvement in the crime. In addition to the three already arrested, Ivo Rezende dos Santos and a woman whose identity has not been revealed are also being investigated for participation in the crime.
The investigation reached Santos and the man arrested this Sunday through cell phone messages found on Fernanda Fazio's cell phone. Rosemberg, for example, is considered a colleague and "does everything" for the veterinarian.
Ivo has an outstanding arrest warrant and remains at large. In addition to him, a woman, whose identity has not been revealed, may also be linked to the crime, according to the DHPP – she was allegedly the victim on security cameras. The defense of those mentioned has also not been located.
Remember the crime
According to the Civil Police, on April 27, Bonin was lured by her ex-partner to Avenida Jaguaré, in the west zone. Upon arriving at the location, she was approached by criminals, killed and taken to a plot of land near the racetrack.
His belongings, a car (a Hyundai Tucson) and cell phone, were abandoned and found days after the crime, on a street near the racetrack. A knife was also found in the vehicle that may have been used to threaten the victim.
Fernanda Bonin was only found the following day, with signs of strangulation and a shoelace wrapped around her neck. She had apparently left home because Fazio claimed that his car had a gearbox problem and that he needed help.
The teacher went to the location, but according to the investigation, she ended up being executed. The police still do not know exactly who committed the crime, but say that there are indications that the three men participated in the execution.
While the teacher was being approached by the criminals, Fernanda Fazio went to Bonin's house to take their two children. They had been separated for about a year and the children were staying at the victim's house.
In a statement to the police last week, Fazio said that the car had started working again and that he had gone to his ex-wife's apartment to take the children. She told investigators that she only called the police the following day, after the school reported that Bonin was missing. (CONTRIBUTED BY CAIO POSSATI)
