Inmet issues low humidity warning; see affected states

The National Institute of Meteorology (INMET) issued a low humidity alert for several Brazilian states, including São Paulo. The warnings, issued Tuesday, the 9th, range from "potential danger" (indicated in yellow and with a lower degree of severity) to "very dangerous" (indicated in red and with a maximum level of severity).
In the latter case, the regions that could be affected are almost all of the states of Goiás and Tocantins; the Federal District; the south, center and west of Maranhão; the northeast of Mato Grosso, part of the southwest of Piauí and the extreme west of Bahia.
In these locations, relative humidity can drop below 12%. "There's a high risk of forest fires and health risks (lung diseases, headaches, etc.)," says Inmet.
A less severe "Danger" alert was also issued by the institute. The warning includes the same regions already mentioned—which should see their severity diminish after the most critical hours of low humidity pass—as well as cities in northern São Paulo, areas in western Minas Gerais, northeastern Mato Grosso do Sul, and inland regions of the states of Bahia, Maranhão, Tocantins, and Piauí.
"Relative humidity ranging from 20% to 12%. Risk of forest fires and health risks. Dry skin, discomfort in the eyes, mouth, and nose," reports Inmet.
According to the institute, the potential danger warning due to low humidity is broader. The warning applies to almost the entire state of São Paulo, part of northern Paraná, all states in the Central-West region, Minas Gerais, and large areas of the Northeastern states, such as Piauí, Maranhão, Pernambuco, Ceará, Paraíba, Bahia, and all of Tocantins.
"Relative humidity ranging from 30% to 20%. Low risk of forest fires and health risks," says Inmet for locations covered by the potential danger alert.
In São Paulo, it rained less than 2% of what was expected for the month
In the capital of São Paulo, the volume of rain recorded so far was 0.9 mm, which corresponds to around 1.3% of the 66.7 mm that are expected for the month, reported the Climate Emergency Management Center of the State of São Paulo (CGE), this Tuesday.
“In the next few hours, the forecast is for light rain and intermittent drizzle between the afternoon and evening today, but with low potential for flooding,” the center added.
Wednesday, the 10th, is expected to have drizzle in the morning and an average temperature of 15°C. Maximum temperatures are expected to reach 25°C, with minimum humidity levels around 40%.
According to Inmet, the condition is the result of a “rapid passage of the frontal system along the coast of São Paulo, which should only cause some light rainfall on the coastal strip of São Paulo”.
