I had a very good conversation with Lula, says Trump alongside Milei

United States President Donald Trump returned this Tuesday 14th to mention his dialogue with President Lula (PT), on September 23rd, at the UN General Assembly, in New York.
Trump briefly mentioned Brazil during a meeting with Argentine President Javier Milei at the White House.
The Republican was questioned by reporters about his reasons for wanting to help Argentina. He said that if the Argentines are on the right path, other countries may follow suit.
Trump said that South American nations have moved closer to what the United States considers a fair trade balance in bilateral relations. "And Brazil… I had a very good conversation with the president. I met with him at the United Nations before I went up to speak."
Lula is banking on opening a dialogue with Trump to suspend Washington's tariff hike on imports of several Brazilian products. On October 6, the presidents spoke by phone . Three days later, Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira spoke with Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and the two arranged a face-to-face meeting.
In April, Trump announced a global minimum tariff of 10%, which also affected Brazilian imports. On August 6, the US government decided to increase the tariff to 50% in retaliation for an alleged "witch hunt" against former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL).
The United States also imposed consular and financial sanctions on senior Brazilian officials, especially Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes , the rapporteur in the trial against Bolsonaro, who was sentenced in September to 27 years in prison for leading an attempted coup.
