How will iFood's partnership with Uber work and what will change in the apps?

Uber and iFood announced, this Wednesday, the 14th, a partnership that will allow iFood users to request Uber trips directly through the iFood app, while Uber users will have access to iFood's food, grocery, pharmacy and convenience delivery services through the Uber app.
According to the companies, the goal of the agreement is to simplify the daily lives of Brazilians by making mobility and delivery services available on both apps. Consumers will be able to plan their trips and order meals or groceries without having to switch between apps.
“We are very excited to join forces with iFood in Brazil. Today, only about half of users use both platforms on a recurring basis. So this partnership represents another big step in our mission to help people go anywhere and get anything with a tap,” said Dara Khosrowshahi, CEO of Uber.
“iFood has transformed the way people order food and everyday items in Brazil, just as Uber has radically changed the way Brazilians get around. Now, this integration marks a major step forward, with both companies innovating together to offer a new way to access everyday services. We believe this partnership will drive more orders to restaurants, grocery stores, pharmacies and convenience stores in general, generate more income for delivery people and drivers, and further simplify consumers’ lives,” said Diego Barreto, CEO of iFood.
How will it work?
Users will continue to use their apps to place orders or request rides. In the Uber app, the Delivery tab will reflect iFood's options. In the iFood app, a new Mobility tab will allow users to request rides with Uber. For now, the Uber One and Clube iFood subscription programs remain unchanged.
The integration of services will begin to be available in selected cities in Brazil in the second half of the year, with expansion to the entire country expected thereafter. There will be no changes to Uber's delivery solutions for businesses (Uber Direct) or to the package delivery service (Uber Flash), which will continue to be requested through the Uber app and delivered by Uber's partner drivers and delivery people.
In the case of iFood, there will also be no changes to any logistics service provided to partners or to 'On Demand', which offers delivery to those operating inside and outside the app.
