Forward Paulinho named best player in the Mexican League

Portuguese international forward Paulinho, who plays for Toluca, was on Sunday voted the best player in the Mexican Football League for the 2024/25 season, having also won the awards for top scorer and best forward in the competition.

“ Paulinho not only scored goals, he also made the difference . The Portuguese forward from Toluca was elected the best player in the 2024/25 season,” said the Mexican League in a statement.

Paulinho, 32, played his first season in Mexican football, in what was his debut outside of Portugal, after having represented Sporting, Sporting de Braga, Gil Vicente, Trofense and Santa Maria, the club where he trained.

In 42 matches for Toluca, Paulinho scored 28 goals and provided eight assists , winning the Clausura tournament title by beating Club América in the final.

In the Apertura tournament, the Portuguese forward's team was eliminated in the quarter-finals by Club América, who won the competition.

Paulinho was also elected the best forward of the competition and also received the distinction of top scorer of the competition.
