Fire on the roof of a building in Chiado has been extinguished

The fire that broke out this afternoon on the roof of a building on Rua Nova do Almada, near Armazéns do Chiado, in Lisbon, has been extinguished, Observador confirmed with the Lisbon Fire Department. No injuries were reported.
The alert was raised at 12:54 p.m., and 22 firefighters were dispatched to the scene. The cause of the fire, which, according to CNN, started in a guesthouse on the top floor of the building, is not yet known.

It is worth remembering that it was 37 years ago that what became known as "the great Chiado fire" broke out on August 15, 1988, and caused the death of two people and injuries to 73. Since then, that area of Lisbon has always been a source of concern when it comes to fires.
