Crater reopens on Marginal Tietê one month after repair

A crater formed in the early hours of Sunday, the 11th, on the Marginal Tietê, in São Paulo, near the exit of the Rodovia dos Bandeirantes. The point is the same one that gave way a month ago, on April 10th, confirmed the Traffic Engineering Company (CET) of São Paulo.
According to the City of São Paulo, CET agents completely blocked the section of the accident, on the central lane, towards Castelo Branco, approximately 300 meters from the Atílio Fontana Bridge, at the access from the local lane to the central lane.
Drivers can use the local and express lanes of Marginal Tietê itself. However, CET recommends that, if possible, drivers avoid Marginal Tietê in this section while the construction is ongoing.
It was raining heavily when the stretch of road gave way on April 10. At the time, the road was only reopened to traffic five days later. On Sunday, there were occasional showers in the city, according to the Climate Emergency Management Center (CGE) of the City of São Paulo.
According to the city government, drivers are being informed about the blockade on the Variable Message Panels (PMVs) located in the direction of Castelo Branco on Marginal Tietê, from the accesses to the main highways. PMVs on Salim Farah Maluf and Aricanduva avenues are also warning drivers that there is interference in the central lane.
CET advises drivers heading to the Castelo Branco Highway and Marginal Pinheiros to use the Lapa region, following the Freguesia do Ó Bridge, Ermano Marchetti Avenue, Nossa Senhora da Lapa Street, Pio XI Street, Cerro Corá Avenue, Queiroz Filho Avenue and the Jaguaré Bridge.
Other alternative route options are the East/West Connection and the Mini-Ring Road to access Marginal Pinheiros and the south zone.
