Alckmin travels to Mexico to meet with the president and discuss trade relations

Vice President and Minister of Industry and Commerce, Geraldo Alckmin, travels to Mexico next Tuesday (26), where he will meet with the country's president, Claudia Sheinbaum. In an interview with journalists on Saturday (23), Alckmin said that the objective of the trip is to expand exchange and strengthen trade between the countries, which last year generated more than US$ 13 billion.
Commenting on the partnership with Mexico, Alckmin said he intends to discuss business in strategic sectors such as biofuels, energy, sustainable aviation fuel, medical equipment, and agribusiness. "We have a significant trade flow: last year, we exported R$7.8 billion to them, and they exported R$5.8 billion to us. We can expand this trade flow," he stated.
Another topic on the trip's agenda, according to the vice president, is the implementation of an electronic visa for citizens of both countries, in order to facilitate the generation of jobs and income.
Although Alckmin didn't mention the tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump, the topic is likely to be a topic of conversation. Brazil already has 50% tariffs on imports of Brazilian products into the US. In the case of Mexico, Trump announced 30% tariffs in early July, but the two countries reached an agreement to postpone their entry into force by 90 days.
