Creations by Tim Etchells, Alberto Cortés, Luísa Saraiva, Vânia Doutel Vaz are part of the program, as well as musical performances with Yasuhiro Morinaga, Robert Millis, Sakina Abdou Trio, and conversations with Jacqueline Nsiah and Denise Fernandes, Patrícia Patrícia Portela and Zia Soares, among others.
"Many of the proposals that the TBA presents this fall are born of absence, dissolution, and loss, they come from a torpor or fog that is a way of surviving after the wound. They are works of mourning, but also works of love," writes the theater's artistic director, Francisco Frazão, in the presentation of the season for the last four months of this year.
The "simple fact that [these works] exist is a reason for celebration: whoever made them, an old recipe of art, used what was left to shape a new life. And that's why we want to share them with you," adds Francisco Frazão, emphasizing that "English folk songs, German romantic poetry, Egyptian iconography; a sudden shortness of breath, diaries of nights out, shellac, overflowing glasses, the specters of history" "are the materials of autumn" at TBA, "transformed into dance, concert, performance, an endless spiral."
Among the TBA's proposals in the performing arts are 'Abalphabet', a show by Alberto Cortés (September 10 and 11), the play 'Coro dos Amantes', the first written by Tiago Rodrigues, performed by Cláudia Gaiolas and Tónan Quito (from September 17 to 20), 'A Plot / A Scandal', by Lígia Lewis (October 2 and 3), 'Burning on ando on', by Luísa Saraiva (October 4), 'Violetas', by Vânia Doutel Vaz (from November 21 to 23) and 'Láddition', brought by Tim Etchells/Bert&Nazi (December 19 and 20).
The musical shows include Yasuhiro Morinaga and Robert Millis, with 'Life entangled: The secret story of Shellac' (September 26), the concert 'Hammer, rol and leaf' with Sakina Abdou Trio with Marta Warelis and Toma Gouband (October 9), Mafalda Banquart and silentparty in 'Flowers!' (October 17 and 18), Grilo with Ivu'Kar (November 8) and the show that closes the year, 'Da roda que não tem fim', on December 6 and 7.
The series of conversations includes 'Radical imagination and the urgency of seeing ourselves', by Jacqueline Nsiah and Denise Fernandes (October 10), 'Drama zone', with Gisela Casimiro and Teresa Coutinho (October 22) and Patrícia Patrícia Portela and Zia Soares with Maria Giulia Pinheiro (November 28), 'From the mouth to the universe', by Denise Santos and moreya (November 4).
The full TBA program, from September to December, is available on the Theater's website.
