What Trump Tariffs Are Expected to Go Into Effect?

The US president opened a new chapter in the trade war by signing an executive order imposing an additional 50% tariff on Brazilian exports. Besides Brazil, Trump has been targeting other countries and products. See which ones. The trade war sparked by US President Donald Trump with his widespread tariff hike has entered a new chapter with the signing of an executive order imposing an additional 50% surcharge on Brazilian imports starting August 7th. The new tariff would be added to other levies already in effect against Brazil and specific products, such as steel.

Other tariffs Trump threatens to impose
Trump has also threatened to impose an additional 10% tariff on "any country that aligns itself with the anti-American policies of BRICS," a bloc led by Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. The group had criticized Trump's tariffs in a statement issued at its last summit in Brazil.
The US president also suggested he could impose a 50% tariff on European Union (EU) exports if the bloc failed to reach an agreement by August 1. The tariff was currently at 10%. On Sunday (July 27), the US and EU agreed to reduce the surcharge on European goods entering the US to 15%.
Negotiated for months, the pact averts a trade war between two allies that represent nearly a third of global trade. US President Donald Trump threatened to impose a 30% tariff on European products if an agreement wasn't reached. Until the beginning of this year, this tariff was set at 4.8%.
According to him, the 15% tariff also applies to the automotive sector, crucial for the bloc as it employs 13 million people, which is currently taxed at 25%.
Trump also stated that the EU has agreed to purchase $750 billion (R$4.1 trillion) of American energy assets. The amount will be invested over three years in the acquisition of liquefied natural gas, oil, and nuclear fuels. The bloc will also make an additional $600 billion (R$3.3 trillion) in investments in the US.
