Voepass accident: one year later, families fight for justice and guarantees

Since August 2024, the grief of the crash of Voepass Flight 2283 has transformed into a movement. With 62 lives lost in a tragedy that shook the country, families of the victims decided to organize. The Association of Relatives of the Victims of Flight 2283 was created with the goal of uniting families, demanding answers, and keeping the memory of those lost alive.
In meetings, in the press, at public hearings, and behind the scenes of the investigation, the association began to play an important role: giving a face and a voice to the suffering of dozens of families. "The association provides strength, support, and a voice. We come together to try not to let all this be forgotten," says Adriana Ibba, mother of three-year-old Liz, one of the victims of the tragedy.
Bianca Faller, who lost her uncle André Michel in the accident, recalls that unity was crucial in navigating a long and often silent investigation process. "In the first few months, we were already together in meetings with Cenipa, the Federal Police, ANAC, and in conversations with deputies and representatives of public agencies," she says.
The national commotion generated by the accident also mobilized Congress. A special committee was created to monitor the tragedy's developments and, based on that, seek to advance the creation of national protocols for assisting victims and their families in air crashes. The goal is to establish guidelines that guarantee psychological, legal, logistical, and institutional support from the first hours after an accident.
Currently, there is no public policy in Brazil that establishes this type of support in a clear and structured manner. The proposal under discussion aims to change that.
Tribute to the victimsNext Saturday (9), the day the tragedy completes one year , families of all 62 victims are expected to gather for the first time in Vinhedo, the city where the plane crashed. The program includes ecumenical acts, tributes and moments of reflection. More than 400 people are expected for the events, which mark the end of a week of remembrance, investigation and fight for justice.
