Summer is also a time of year when the Praia da Rocha Sports Area reinforces its dynamic by allowing residents and visitors to practice different sports free of charge until September, with the municipal program "Stay Fit on the Beach".

The Record International Masters Futsal has been a fixture in the municipality for several years, marking the August sports schedule. After a year-long hiatus due to the World Cup, it now returns to Portimão Arena with four top clubs.

European champions Palma Futsal, Spanish runners-up Barcelona and Liga Placard finalists Benfica and runners-up Sporting will take to the field on the 23rd and 24th to fight for the title of this tournament that kicks off the season.

Four of the best teams in the world will be in action, with the clash between Benfica and Barcelona kicking off on Saturday at 11:00 am.

Sporting will play Palma at 3:00 PM. On Sunday, the 24th, at 11:00 AM, the Portuguese runner-up will face Barcelona, while at 2:00 PM, the reigning Portuguese and European champions will take the lead.

Tickets for each match cost five euros and can be purchased on the BOL platform or at the Portimão Arena ticket office on weekdays from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. On tournament days, it will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., except on August 24th, when ticket sales close at 4:00 p.m.

In the seventh edition, the Sigma Stars organization presents a new feature in this tournament by debuting the Youth Masters Futsal, which will take place at the same municipal facility, between August 20 and 23.

To prepare the public for the weekend's big games, this new youth futsal competition will bring together eight Algarve teams, in a kick-off for a project that the organization hopes will gain international dimension.

With the participation of CRD Santaluziense, São Pedro Futsal Clube de Faro, Louletano DC, SVRDC Ferragudense and UD Castromarinense, the presence of the municipality's emblems GEJUPCE Portimão, Portimonense SC and CDR Pedra Mourinha is also guaranteed.

The month of August brings several sporting events to the agenda, with highlights including the Record International Masters Futsal at Portimão Arena, the FIP and Padel Open de Portimão at the Municipal Tennis and Padel Complex.

Next to the sea, with a comprehensive program as part of the municipal project "Summer Sports Entertainment - Keep Fit on the Beach", promoted by Portimão City Council , the Praia da Rocha Sports Area is once again the ideal meeting point for those who want to stay active.

In this sense, until September 13, tourists and residents have the opportunity to practice fitness, water aerobics, yoga, pilates, zumba, beach soccer, volleyball, footvolley, frisbee and beach tennis, with no prior registration required.

Simply show up at the location to participate in these activities led by accredited instructors, which take place from Monday to Friday, between 8:00 am and 8:00 pm, and on weekends, from 8:30 am to 6:30 pm.

In this context, in addition to group classes, the loan of sports equipment is also guaranteed for the informal practice of sports such as beach football and volleyball, footvolley, beach tennis and frisbee.

This program is highly dynamic, having involved 23,000 participants in the summer of 2024, but the municipal facility installed on the Praia da Rocha beach also hosts major competitions, developed in collaboration with federations and clubs, reinforcing its role in promoting sports in the beach context.

Taking advantage of the municipality's coastline and the good August weather, the open sea will be the stage for two swimming competitions that promise a strong turnout of athletes.

The first is the 34th Praia da Rocha Sea Race, which will take place at the Sports Area and will take place on August 2nd.

The competition is organized by Portinado – Portimão Swimming Association and is part of the 31st Open Water Circuit – Algarve 2025, promoted by ANAlgarve – Algarve Swimming Association . It will be divided into Categories AA, Masters Group (Masters A to Masters J) and Gender.

Still regarding swimming, the XV Alvor Sea Trial is taking place, scheduled for August 15th, at Praia da Restinga, and organized by O2Portimão – Portimão Sports and Cultural Association , in partnership with ANAlgarve, Portimão City Council and Alvor Parish Council .

Thus, between the 8th and 10th, the space will host another stage of the National Beach Volleyball Championship.

With free entry, the competition organized by the Portuguese Volleyball Federation involves the best national pairs, male and female athletes, and stands out for being one of the ones with the largest participation.

In Portimão, the key word continues to be diversity, so the month will also be dedicated to hosting major events, such as the Portimão Open 10,000 and the FIP Silver Men and FIP Bronze Ladies, between August 6 and 10, at the Portimão Municipal Tennis and Padel Complex, two prestigious padel competitions.

With free entry, the official padel competition matches will take place over several days.

The Padel Portimão Open 10,000 is one of the largest and most attended tournaments in the municipality, while the FIP will bring to the city big names in the sport, both national and international, to compete for prize money in both men's and women's categories.
