MetaAI app, Mark Zuckerberg's AI, arrives in Brazil; see how to use it

This Monday, the 11th, the MetaAI app, Meta 's artificial intelligence (AI) tool, arrived in Brazil . The feature, which now has a standalone app, was already available on WhatsApp , Instagram , Facebook and Messenger , the company's other platforms, since October of last year.
The AI tool works like a chatbot, allowing users to ask questions, perform searches, and create images. The new app can be downloaded for free from smartphone app stores like the App Store and Google Play Store . MetaAI is also available in a desktop version.
The app also has a Discover tab where users can share their AI commands by publishing text and images created by the tool. According to the company, nothing is published without users' permission.
To use the app, you need to log in with a Meta account—the same one you use to log in to Instagram or Facebook. Then, simply open a chat tab with the AI to interact with the chatbot.
Launched in the US in May, the app has received widespread criticism regarding privacy and the use of personal data to train its AI, as it uses information posted on Instagram and Facebook. Because it aims to be a more personalized AI assistant, MetaAI remembers everything said and can use chat information for future conversations. The app's own terms of use advise users not to "share information you don't want AIs to use and retain."
Additionally, since the AI was implemented in Meta's other apps in October 2024, users have not had the option to turn it off.
