Leo XIV is the new Pope

Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost, until now Prefect of the Dicastery for Bishops, was elected Pope this Thursday, May 8, after two days of Conclave, taking the name Leo XIV.

The first American pontiff, aged 69, was a missionary and archbishop in Peru, and was also superior general of the Order of Saint Augustine.
