He was a standout performer in Académica's senior preseason and started the 2025-2026 season with a bang... in the U-17 (youth) squad. Afonso Marques scored three goals in the first half and was instrumental in the students' triumphant entry into the South Series of the 1st Division of the National U-17 Championship. On Sunday afternoon, Académica's youth team beat Casa Pia 3-2 at Academia Briosa XXI. Afonso Marques scored from the penalty spot in the 10th minute, the 20th minute, and the 43rd minute, earning a hat trick in the match.
