Robert Makłowicz was fascinated by this island. You'll find sandy beaches there.

Dubrovnik, Split, Zadar – if you've already visited these towns during your Croatian vacation, it's worth considering one of its islands. Tourists may be interested in a beautiful place called "Little Dubrovnik."
Defensive walls and sandy beaches in CroatiaKorčula (English: Korczula) is one of the greenest and sunniest Dalmatian islands. It is sometimes compared to Dubrovnik due to its surrounding defensive walls and the monuments hidden within them, including the Kanavelić Tower.
Although picturesque bays and crystal-clear waters are the hallmarks of this country, it also has sandy beaches that are not typical for this country.
Renowned traveler Robert Makłowicz has already presented the history of Korcula on his program. "It's absolutely beautiful here, and just think how many similarly beautiful places there are in Dalmatia itself," he encouraged.
The trip to the island itself will be a wonderful memory. The easiest way to get there is by ferry or water taxi – to the Domince ferry port or to Vela Luka. Domince is accessible from Orebić, and Vela Luka is reached by ferry from Split. However, the journey from Split will take a longer three hours.
After arriving, we search for a sandy beach. One is a 15-minute drive from the old town. Vela Pržina, in the small fishing village of Lumbarda, boasts the only sandy beach on Korčula. The sea here is relatively warm year-round, and locals even swim in it in November.
Families with children also head to Bilin Žal, located further away – the water here is shallow, so you can cool off there even if you can't swim. A small wall offers shade.

Korcula is a beautiful yet popular tourist destination. Croatia also boasts much quieter towns just waiting to be explored.
A good idea for an off-the-beaten-path trip is Varaždin . The place is described as "the country's baroque secret," offering a virtual journey back in time.
