A new health resort, greenery, and no spa guests. A sad sight in a Polish city
The aforementioned town is picturesque and peaceful. It is actually a forest settlement located in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. Can you already imagine the views and feel the clean air? When you learn that the spa facilities are located only 15 km from the border with Russia, your dreams of a vacation there can quickly vanish. This is what has been affecting the commune for a long time. It is impossible to find an investor who would take care of the business.

This is exactly what the Górowo Iławeckie health resort in Nowa Wieś Iławecka looks like. Although it looks very good in the photos and is ready for use, no one wants to take care of it. Previously, a number of investments that are now available to investors were implemented by the local government. Now the authorities have a problem. It does not help that 80% of the aforementioned area is covered by the Natura 2000 Ostoja Warmińska network (PLB280015). In addition, there are some of the largest peat deposits in Poland nearby, and about 10 km from the town we will find, among others, the Provincial Rehabilitation Hospital.
The local authorities are trying to find a way to make the place vibrant. One of the ideas is a partnership with public entities – the hospital in Bartoszyce and Gołdap. Since the project was co-financed from EU funds, the local government has to maintain the facilities for at least five years.
"We are looking for a final solution that will ensure the operation of this facility for the benefit of the community, i.e. the community that was assumed to operate based on medical procedures. Unfortunately, we are located on the border with the aggressor, so from the point of view of private investors, we are not such an attractive partner after 2022," informed Krzysztof Baran, mayor of the Górowo Iławeckie commune.
Many millions of złoty have been invested in the Górowo Iławeckie health resort, the effect of which is visible. The place offers, among others, fully equipped facilities and salt graduation towers. It is also possible to open a swimming pool. It is known that not only the town itself is attractive, but also its surroundings. Tourists willingly visit, among others, Lidzbark Warmiński or the Gołdap health resort.
The total area of the three-storey building is 2,953.79 m2. It consists of three segments: wings A and B and a connecting passage. In the central part of the swimming pool hall there is a rehabilitation pool basin - area 150 m2. There is also a SPA zone designed as an independent complex with biological regeneration rooms. There are many more attractions, including a green terrace, mud baths and a hyperbaric chamber.
