In the round of 16, the Polish player's opponent will be the tournament's No. 4, Jessica Pegula. The match began with a slew of breaks. Linette's break ended better, taking a 4-2 lead. Pegula managed to close the gap in the next round, and the set was decided in a tiebreak.

The tennis players didn't show up for the third round at all. Rain showers made their presence felt, halting the entire event in Cincinnati. Linette's match against Pegula will be completed on Wednesday afternoon or evening. The exact time for the resumption of the competition is not yet known.
