Spectacular results achieved by the former coach Świątek's player. What a change!
Iga Świątek's former coach, Tomasz Wiktorowski, recently took over the coaching of Naomi Osaka, who has struggled to regain her optimal form. Under her new coach, the former WTA number one quickly found her rhythm, as evidenced by her recent results. The Japanese player defeated Elina Svitolina (6-2, 6-2) to advance to the semifinals of the WTA 1000 tournament in Montreal.
Late last month, Osaka ended her relationship with her previous coach, Frenchman Patrick Mouratoglou, and entrusted Wiktorowski with her further development. The decision was prompted by the four-time Grand Slam champion and former world number one. Under her previous coach, Osaka reached the WTA 250 final in Auckland and triumphed in the WTA 125 in Saint-Malo, which was hardly a resounding success.

The Japanese player is currently playing her first tournament in Montreal under the Polish coach, and it must be admitted that she's playing phenomenally. She defeated Svitolina (6-2, 6-2) in the quarterfinals of a WTA 1000 tournament, her best result since returning to competition.
In the semifinals, she will face Clara Tauson, who previously defeated Iga Świątek and Madison Keys and hasn't dropped a set so far. Defeating the Dane would undoubtedly be a major victory for both Osaka and Wiktorowski, but the task won't be easy. The WTA 1000 Montreal semifinal between Naomi Osaka and Clara Tauson will be played Wednesday night at 1:30 a.m. Polish time. The other semifinal pairing is Jelena Rybakina and Victoria Mboko.
